Recently Google pulled a mobile application from its Play Store that was built to helps users want to delete Chinese apps for games, entertainment, or any other purpose and other software from their Android smartphones citing the violations of its policies.
According to the sources from Gadgets360 Google has taken down the app due to a few primary reasons.
Firstly The app was mentioned as an educational app but it has no connection with education or learning activity instead it had the straight forward name “Remove China Apps”.
Secondly, the mobile app was provoking the users to remove other third-party apps, which is against Google's Play Store policy.
The controversial software, Remove China Apps, had drawn millions of downloads in just two weeks in India as tensions between the two countries surged in the borders. According to the available information the program was developed by little-known OneTouch AppLabs, based in Jaipur.
China and India both have been gathering thousands of their troops, army & weapons at a disputed border in a remote area of the Himalayas near to Ladakh. Both countries have had a long history of territorial clashes dating back decades but instead, it didn't affect the trade between China & India.
India is one of the largest markets of Chinese products all over the world. Especially Chinese gaming apps are really very successful in India. The most famous one we can mention is PUBG- Mobile made by Tencent. Tencent has many other Gaming apps but PUBG is the most played Mobile game. In the last few months, smartphone manufacturers mentioned it as one of their features on smartphones.
But side by side this game has some controversial things like it becomes very addictive when someone playing the game. There are many bus & train accidents of the young Indian youths playing the game with earphones.
So in this scenario, the Chinese apps are very efficient in gaining popularity in a country like India having a large population. Either it is a gaming app like PUBG or an entertainment app like TikTok, another famous Chinese app largely used by the Indians.
A study shows that most of the Indians think that China is responsible for the Corona Virus as the claim of American president Donald Trump was somehow got streamed in the Indian media & channels on Television.
So as an overall result people are taking steps from themselves to do something to give a lesson to China. And to do so Indian android users choose the easiest way first what is in their hand by just uninstalling the Chinese apps. Meanwhile, Remove China Apps was designed to be as straightforward as its name and help the users by identifying the Chinese apps on their smartphone. After a smartphone user downloads the software, it helps to identify the country of origin for apps installed on the phone by using its market research & highlighting Chinese ones and suggesting steps for removal.
Though a normal android user can search & know the country origin of the apps just from google by searching App name: origin country. It is so simple.
Just for information, we want to mention that Google pulled the “Mitron” app which was also a clone of the Tik Tok app with some controversial origin. It also made a lot of downloads from Google Play Store as an alternative for Tik Tok. But it also had many google policy violations.
